    Felons and public housing.
    Hi I'm sassygirl1 I'm a 37 year old female from espanola New Mexico. I've been out of prison since sept.2006.I am on disability so I have beeh trying to get public housing I got turned down because I am a felon; they said I have to wait 5 years from the day of starting my parole and then they will consider my applicaton; at lest that's how I undestood them.so what are we as felons supposed to do if society won't help us to find a home.does anyone have any advise for me. I'm not a bad person I just made wrong dissisions.I think everyone deserves another chance and a home to lay your head at night.

    The public housing dept has made their rules. You will just have to find some housing that you can afford right now. It won't be easy for you to do, but unfortunately the rules cannot be "bent" for you or they will have to be bent for everyone. Do you have any family members or friends you can stay with?
