    Foreign Tax Credit filing process
I am a US citizen who has lived in London for over a year. I need to fill out a FAFSA for federal student aid back in the states, but before I can do this accurately, I need to do my taxes. So here are my questions:

    1. How does a US ex pat pay taxes from the UK? I know I need a foreign Tax credit from but I would imagine I need payslips to prove income earned. Does the UK provide a kind of W2 forms like in the states? I was a student last year and did not earning any income so this was avoided slightly.

    2. Where can I find a Foreign Tax credit form?

    Advice? Life savers? Buoys?

You must file your U.S. tax return. You do not need W2. You will need payslips or bank statements only when IRS has a question.

You will claim credit for taxes paid in the foreign country by filing Form 1116. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Citizen or Resident with Foreign Income
