Me and my fiancée want to get married but we don't want the big ceremony. I wanted to know how to go about doing a court house marriage before I go then and make myself look like a fool.

    Connecticut Marriage Requirements
    Jan. 1, 2007
    Marriage License
A Marriage License may be issued in the Town Clerk's Office in either the Town where the wedding
Will occur or in the Connecticut Town of residence of either the bride or groom. If neither the bride or
Groom has their residence in Connecticut, then the Marriage License must be issued in the Town in
Connecticut where the wedding will take place.
When visiting the Town Clerk's Office to obtain your marriage license, please bring suitable
Identification such as a driver's license or passport. In addition, the State of Connecticut requires
That you provide your social security number.

Both parties must appear in the same Clerk's office in person, must swear to the information
Provided on the application and both must sign the application. You may appear at separate times
In the Clerk's office to complete the application, however the license will not be issued until both
Parties have presented themselves and provided all of the necessary information and signatures.

Applicants under 18 years of age must have parental consent.

Applicants under 16 years of age must have written consent of their parents and the presiding Judge
    Of Probate.

There is no waiting period; the license is issued immediately if all requirements are met.

A BLOOD TEST IS NO LONGER REQUIRED IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT

Marriage License is valid for 65 days after issuance; if not used within that time it will become null
    And void.

The marriage ceremony must be performed by ordained clergy from any state, a judge from any
State, or a Connecticut Justice of the Peace. The ceremony can be performed by a friend or relative,
But an authorized officiator from the above list must also be present to confirm the ceremony and
    Sign the marriage license.

    Marriage License fee : $ 30.00

Town Clerk hours are 8:30am to 4:30 PM Monday through Wednesday, 8:30am to 6:00pm
Thursday and Friday 8:30am to 3:00pm
