I think I Suck at Life
So, does anyone ever feel like they suck at life? I get that feeling a lot and I really hate it because then it makes me spiral into all these questions about myself. Like, why am I so needy, why so confused all the time, why can't or don't I just change the things I want to change and always feel bad about (smoking, weight loss, cynical attitude). I mean my whole like if a long steady contradiction. I don't even understand myself most of the time, although it pains me to write that.

-I must say this website really makes me feel a lot better though. I love being able to say whatever I want, think or feel and ask any question I think of and nobody knows who I am or that I ever even thought these crazy things.

Now I can go back to pretending like I have it all together and waa... waa... waa...

Oh yeah, anyone ever get tired of pretending like everything is peachy and the world is a happy place with lots to offer and I fit so well in it? I sure as hell do!
Maybe this is why I can't decide what career path I'll take.

    Hi, peacekeeper4u4!

Sure, I've felt like I'm no good at life many times, especially when I'm really frustrated with something.

However, the way that I feel and anyone feels is a matter of choice. Most days I have to kick-start myself to get going because I suffer from clinical depression. The fact that I know what the main thing is that is causing me to not to want to get going helps me to get going because I know that it's a matter of the choices that I make.

Have you ever been examined by a health professional to see if you might be clinically depressed?

    Thanks!

Everyone has problems. Even those who seem to have it all and appear to be perfectly happy have problems. You're right; this is a great forum to express yourself without "exposing" yourself. You can take from it what you find helpful and disregard the rest. I'm not a life expert by any means, but after reading your thread I have the impression that you are overwhelming yourself with negative judgements of yourself. Changing that may be a great place to start.

    Hey peacekeeper4u4,

You're a normal human being. Life is hard and that can make us feel like we suck at it but really you're doing fine.

You sound like you have a lot of big goals and you're trying to tackle them all at once. Try to take it one step at a time.

Like step one Quit smoking (this is very hard to do but well worth it) I recommend support groups. If you are more comfortable with a online setting there are plenty that are online and just as supportive.

Then step two Start a smart weight program (Of all of them that I've seen do a lot of good I like weight watchers... It's not about losing weight. It's about eating smarter and that's what makes it work. Eating smarter not only helps you lose it but helps you keep it off

As for the cynical attitude that one can be conquered last because that one's easy to cure when you look fabulous and you're getting whistles and looks from across the room

With big goals it's always easier to conquer when you have a friend to pick you up when you're down

Sounds like you have a little bit of a depression problem. There is nothing wrong with earth and our lives it's what you do with your life on earth.

It sounds like you're not getting something you want or you're stuck in a pretty rotten scenario or siuation.

Like every else is sahying life can SEEM tough sometimes but that's when friends and family come into play.

Sit down and talk it out with someone with whom you care for and you will brighten up a little.

    Hope Any of this helps

Thanks for all the input everyone. It's nice to hear an outsiders point of view when your stuck in a rut. Depression actually runs in my family, my dad and my sister are manic depressants and too proud to do anything about it. I've always wondered if I was too but like them, I am too proud to admit to anyone close to me. I just moved back to a old city where my boyfriend lives (and I used to live a couple years ago) to start the second stage of school and me and him have been having some problems. Also I have no friends here and although I do have family here, I can't really talk to them about things I need to because they disapprove of basically everything I like to do. Also I left a really good job behind and for the 2 months since I've moved here I haven't been able to get a new one. Extremely frustrating to hear that you either have too much or not enough experience! And I got a DWI 1 1/2 years ago and as of this month they just sentenced me to 18 months probation (first offense of any kind). Word to the wise don't drink and drive in Texas or anywhere for that matter. It is soooooo not worth it! So anyway, I've basically been adjusting to a lot recently and it has been making feel like I'm stuck in a rut. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read my confessions and offering legit advice. That's really comforting. Have a great day people!

Been there, done that. I had a problem with a chemical depression. When I got help for it (zoloft) things got so much better.

When you change the way you look at things
The things you look at will change

    Much luck to you!

    Dear Peace,

You have to have a general plan for your life and several areas such as sports, hobbies, altruistic endeavors, intellectual pursuit to fill out your positive interests and who you are. There really is no other choice to keep depression at bay.

You need a life coach to help you at this time in your life. Don't surrender to negativity and label yourself mentally ill... that would be a tragic mistake.

Very best wishes to you,my friend, :)
