I have a 1 hp 240v ice eater that draws 5.7 running amps. This is used to keep the water moving around a boat dock so the area will not ice up. I don't want to let the unit run while the temp is above 35 degrees but want it to turn on at 35 degrees. I have a 110v thermostat but they tell me no one make a 240v. Is that correct? Can you tell me where to find one? Thanks, Greg

A thermostat with that low of a temperature is going to be hard to find.

If there is a disconnect for this unit nearby, even a plug and receptacle, you CAN use the single pole thermostat to control the 240v pump.

I have a outlet that the unit is plugged into. That is where I was going to install the thermostst. My idea was to plug the unit into the thermostat then plug the thermostat into the outlet.

But if it is a 120v thermostat, how can you plug it into a 240v receptacle?

If you have a 120 thermostat that will work. Usually controls are 120V or lower. You can wire a 240 to 120 step down transformer and a 1 HP motor starter.

You would probably need an enclosure that's NEMA 4 or 4X rated.
