    Steam boiler cycle times
I just had a Peerless WBV-03 SPL steam boiler installed. At the start, the burner shuts off once it reaches 1.75 PSI, about 20-25 minutes. From there on it runs for about 2 minutes, shuts down at 1.75 PSI and restarts in two minutes when there is no pressure reading on the gauge. This continues until the thermostat stops calling for heat. Is this two minute cycle the correct way for this unit to operate? Is this causing wear and tear to the burner (Beckett)?

The pressurestat will cycle the burner during heating cycles until thermostat setpoint is reached. If system is new, have the installer check the pressurestat differential setting. Sometimes the initial setup of a new system requires a little follow-up adjustment.

Hopefull they installed a energy control package on that bad boy. If so this could also need to be adjusted.
