    Can an ex-felon be bonded?
I live in California. My criminal conviction was 02/2001. I did my time (01-03). Successful parole (ended 12/06). No trouble before, or since. I work as a residential home cleaner and I have held a janitorial position at a church (4+ years, now). Due to the current economic situation, I would like to get a job with a more set schedule/hours. I love the type of work I do, and would like to apply for a cleaning company. I have learned however, that these companies (understandably) require their workers to be bonded. Can I be bonded having a felony conviction from 8 years ago? How far back do these types of companies (cleaning) go back? Thanks for ANY help!!

    Hello suzan:

I don't know. Get on the phone and call up a few bonding companies and ask 'em. If they can sell you a bond, they're for sure going to do it. Yeah, it might cost you a little more...

Some companies will write for you, some will not. A lot depends on what the conviction was - theft, for example, makes it a whole lot more difficult.

Your best bet is to contact an Agent who writes for more than one company and can make several attempts for you.
