    Revelations: Horse/Locust/Men
What are the horses with locust wings, scorpion tails and mens faces represent in Revelations? Explain.

Some people believe they represent things like helicopters and other transportations that were unknown at that time.

Since we are told that the creatures come out of the bottomless pit, is entirely possible that we may take the description literally as something never before seen on Earth.

Of course, they could be symbolic. But as to what is unclear.

I presently think they are literal.

    pepsichallenge,
I do believe that they are symbolic... but of what I have no idea other than the thot that they could be diseases or pestelance that was spawned by mankind.

Evidently you read Revelations 9:7-10. This is what John saw and obviously John is using comparisons and symbolic language to describe what these demon possessed locusts look like. This unnatural army of locusts will be under the leadership of an angelic king. This king will probably be satan , but it seems more likely he will be one of satans assistants. Satan will not be one of the demons confined in the abyss. He is the fallen star who opens the pit to let this angelic king and his ungodly army
    Loose.
This must be one of satans top assistants. His hebrew name will be Abaddon, meaning destruction. His greek name will be Apollyon, meaning destroyer. Since his name is given in hebrew and greek he will be most likely permitted to attack both the jews and gentiles. His name is given twice which means it is a double warning of his destructive
    Powers.
