Janitrol Model GUH100 fires up but Blower will not blow.
Hello, we have a Janitrol Model GUH100 gas furnace. The pilot is on, the jets fire on appropriately but the Blower(fan) does nothing. My fiancé said that initially it sounded like the motor was trying to start up but the fan would not turn and that now it does not make that sound. I have pulled the fan out to see if it was blocked from turning, it spins with no problem. It is dirty but in my opinion no more than to be expected. We had the furnaced looked at last year by a professional but for other reasons . I don't know how much it might be a factor but, it just happened to stop working around the time my fiancé changed the filter and lightly vacuumed around in that area. Thank you in advance for any help.

Try connecting the blower direct to check if it is working properly. At least you will know for sure if it is good or not.

Try the fan switch on the thermostat.

I am sorry, I am not sure what you mean by "connecting the blower direct". For that matter I am not sure if this is how I respond to your answer. Regardless, thank you for your help.

I am sorry, I am not sure what you mean by "connecting the blower direct".

Connecting the blower directly means eliminating the furnace hookup and connecting directly to a wall outlet with a jumper type cord.

It seems like your electrical ability is limited so it might be best for you to call a HVAC contractor to make the repairs.

Check the wire connections as well. F he was in there with a vacuum and nudged a wire loose that would answer that question, other than that do as hvac1000 suggested. Chances are that the blower has failed.
