Hi. My name is Grant , I am 20 and come from the UK. I have recently been arrested and bailed for allegedly grooming a 14 year old boy and possession of child pornography. My solicitors cannot tell me and nore are the police until my bail date. What I am asking is that if I am charged, taken to court and found guilty - what sort of prison sentence could I face?

Hello Grant:

There are a jillion factors that go into sentencing, including your record, your race, your age, your financial status, your charge, your victim and his status in the community, your witnesses, your political connections, your demeanor, your education, your profession, your work history, your parents, the quality of your lawyer, the size of your town, the ambitions of your prosecutor, the happiness of your judge, your sexual preferences, and I've only just started.

So, LOTS of these factors have NOTHING to do with the crime, as you can see, and some of them are in YOUR control RIGHT NOW. I'd take the ones I could control and run with them... The ONE I'm primarily referring to is the quality of your LAWYER.
