Was curious if anyone knows the statute of limitation on bills that are older. It's like the bill keeps getting passed around from person x, to person y. It's hard for me to tell when exactly that bills are being considered past the time of collection. This whole thing smells funny. They did it on new year's eve, was when the judgement actually went through.
Apparently the court case was decided on April 15, of 08. They served my Father in law, whom was nice enough to tell me about the summons after I was speaking with my mother about having a judgement on my account. I called the courhouse where the writ was served. They said that counts as serving me, since he's my father in law. I asked to set up an emergency hearing to plead my case or attempt to have the judge remove it because of that reason. She said they can't do things like that I guess. I just seemed really weird to me they did this on New year's eve.

I call the collectors, and they talk about trying to get a hold of me. They obviously didn't have any current information. They said if my bank faxes them letterhead saying that they've attempted to withdraw the x amount of dollars I owe, then he will talk to his attorney's and see about removing the judgement. That easy I guess, kind of seems weird. Even though they won't exactly get their money from the bank. My electricity will be shut off tonight. My rent is due. My kids can't go to daycare. I can't go to work. Seems unjust but I guess the law is the law. They actually have withdrawn money from my joint checking account I share with my girlfriend, that is her child support money. I had no idea they can take other peoples child support money, even if it is a joint checking account.

I don't see what state you live in. If you read the notice of garnishment carefully, you may see a procedure for protecting your girlfriend's money.
