    Horrible smell in my bathroom
So here is the deal. I have had a HORRIBLE smell in my bathroom now for about 2 weeks. It started as just a slight smell but has gradually increased to a horrible one that causes me to gag.
I have a couple of ideas on what it could be:
    1. We had our septic pumped about 3 weeks ago. This smell started shortly after, so I wondering if it could have something to do with it.
    2. We had a hurt cat wondering around our property, I thought she might be dead under the house. My BF said he stuck his head in the crawl and it's didn't smell. Is it possible that she is dead, right under our bathroom, and smell is just isolated in this one spot? Also, how long would it take for the carcass to decompose and the smell to be gone? Like I said it's been about 3 weeks.
    3. My BF and Landlord think we have mold growing behind our shower wall. But I don't really smell a "moldy" smell. It's more like vinegary, garlicy, groseness.
Any thoughts? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a bathroom vent that is separate from your central AC/heating system? If so, get up close and sniff to see if the odor is coming from there. It's possible that you have a dead rat in there. Another idea is to sniff around the electrical recepticles/switch plates to determine if the odor is coming from there. Sometimes rats die in the walls, especially if you have been using bait that kills them by making them bleed to death internally. I had a rat problem years ago and poisoned 'em using a bait that in the process of killing them cause them to be extremely dehydrated. This results in them leaving the house in search of water just before they die, so you don't have 'em dead in the walls!

Check the bathroom fan, A bird or rat may have come down the pipe and can't get out. Pull the cover and the motor assembly out and you will be able to see the vent pipe. Also do you use the shower and sink in this bathroom? We have 2 bathrooms and only use one of them so the traps will dry up cause sewer gas to enter through the drains.
