    Child support law
I live in Illinois and have been paying child support for my now 7 year old daughter. However, her mom has moved her out of state to go to school but the mom is still in Illinois. Does the child have to reside with the custodial parent to receive support?

Where is the daughter living? Boarding school? Another family member? Foster care?

This has been discussed on the board before, both for a young child and for a college-bound child.

No, the child does not have to live but has to be supported by the custodial parent,

If for example a grandparent or a aunt is raising the child, that person could sue for support from both parents.

This may be a time to look into filing for custody of the child, ifyou want it, or if the child would want to.

Depends on what type of school, boarding school the mom is paying big bucks, miliatry school,s till paying
