I'm trying to connect a Zenith DVD/VCR to the TV through a Motorola HD converter. I've got regular programming on the TV. The Zenith unit appears to be responding but it doesn't send a picture to the TV. I've tried channels 3 and 4 but can't get a set-up screen on the TV. My old VCR had 2 hook-ups for coaxial cables and everything worked fine. The Zenith has only one coaxial input. It requires an adapter and I don't have it connected. Any ideas on how to get the Zenith to send pictures to the TV?

HD converter? Sure your Motorola device isn't one of the Digital to analog converters older TVs will require in February? Some of those converters require digital RF input (can't utilize analog RF input. If your DVD/VCR comb is generating analog RF outout the converter might be unable to forward the analog signal to your TV.

If your TV features multiple input connections connect the converter to one input and the DVD/VCR combination to another. If your DVD/VCR combo needs a digital to analog converter connect the output of the converter to the DVD/VCR input(s), but it's better for the VCR to have a second converter for simultaneous recording on one channel while you watch another channel.

Digital TV (DTV) might be digital High Definition TV (HDTV) or digital Standard Definition TV (SDTV). Many of the converters being sold for the February analog cutoff in the US are able to convert either Over The Air (OTA) HDTV or SDTV to analog TV (in standard resolution).

ATSB: Digital television formats. Include standard definition 480i format and high definition 720i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p formats (some devices might not be compatible or generate all these formats). Often shifted to a high definition analog format by one piece of equipment (external tuner, Digital Video Recorder or Blue Ray player) and carried in the home over three connector component cables or a single HDMI cable.
