Christmas time Birthdays
Anyone else have a birthday on or in the same week as Christmas?
Mine is December 27th. And I tip my hat to my wife for making it a "birthday like" as possible. But those of us who have our Birthday during this time know exactly what it's like.
Cons:
Our birthday gifts are combined with Christmas gifts
Our birthday cake may very well be a left over fruit cake.
If your birthday falls AFTER the Christmas holiday (like mine) then everyone you know normally has a touch of the "post holiday blues" and doesn't feel like celebrating.
Its cold
Nobody rememebers it because it's to close to Christmas.
Pros:
You celebrate your Birthday during one of the most festive months of the year.
LOTS of candy! Candy candy candy galore!
AND leftover turket and ham dinners.
If may be combined with time your employer would have given you off anyway for the Christmas holiday, thus, you may get your birthday off with pay.
We can have egg nog on our birthday! How many people can say that?
My birthday this year was fine. My wife threw me a small party, my neighbor came over. We had my favorite dish lasagna, and chocolate cake. Then we talked for a while and played two games of yhatzee.
Since I had taken my tree and decorations down that morning, it actually felt like a regular birthday. Of course I didn't mind eating the left over mints and fudge candies from Christmas while playing our game.

My son, also an Andrew, has his birthday on Dec. 26 so we know exactly what you mean.
It sometimes gets celebrated either the weekend before or the weekend after Christmas, but we do make sure it is completely different.
He chooses what he wants for dinner, has a birthday cake made for him, gifts wrapped in actual birthday wrapping paper, etc..
It can be challenging to come up with gift ideas when you just used them for Christmas however!
Glad to hear you had a nice birthday!

A friend, whose birthday is Dec. 26, as a kid received two-piece pjs every Christmas from an aunt. She told him one half was for Christmas and the other half for his birthday.
Another friend moved her Christmas birthday to June 25. Then she could have an outdoor party with no winter weather restrictions.

You know something that doesn't seem to common is people born right BEFORE Christmas. Like on the 23rd or 24th. Most of the people I know who were born on Christmas week were born in the days following Christmas.
Not saying they don't excist, I know they do, maybe they just don't say much about it.

My Mom has a birthday the day after Christmas, I always get her a nice card, and I NEVER wrap her present in Christmas paper. I always call her and even though I just spoke to her on Christmas, I don't mention her birthday till the next day;) I remember as a little girl her telling me how much she disliked getting her birthday presents in christmas wrapping paper. Happy Birthday to all who had a birthday next to Christmas:)
