Sewage pump (ejector)staying on longer now
My wife just wrote in about this but she didn't explain it correctly. The pump would normally run for about 1 minute during the summer and fall, now that winter is here and we had a major cold spell (-30 and colder). We also had the field pumped out in November, and have bales covering the field with about 20" of snow. We noticed that the pump will stay on longer now, up to 5-6 minutes. Im not sure if there is a problem at the suction side of the pump or if the outlet side could be frozen. It does pump the water out of the tank to the field but it is taking a lot longer. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you have some debris obstructing float from moving back to "closed" position. It should be easy fix: open the lid, make sure there is enough room for the float to go Up and Down, move all cords away, and remove all debris .

Sewage ejector pump [ 5 Answers ]

I think my sewage ejector pump may be bad. The fuse for the pump popped and when I re-set the breaker, the ejector pump turns on for several seconds and then the breaker pops again. Does that mean the pump is gone bad or do I have an electrical problem.
