    Covering a sewage ejection pump
    Hi,
Can I frame around a sewage ejection pump pit. Assuming that I leave a small door (1.5 times width of the hole and about 4 feet high. How much clearance should I leave around the ejection pit. Should this even be done?

    Thanks
    Sam.

Each sewer ejector system should be covered and sealed to prevent sewer gases from escaping. There should be 2" dedicated vent that vents the pit.

Anytime you want to build over any mechanical device, like sewer ejector system, you have to make it accessible so it can be serviced. Use common sense how much of such a space you should have and how large access door you should install. Best is to think that you will be the one working in there when something happens. But, the rule of thumb is: the bigger the better.
