    Buying a house will affect Social Security benefits
    If someone is a Social Security recipient, If they buy a house can or will affect their social security?

    If someone is receiving social security in California, can they purchase a house without being penalized for buying it or the benefits be taken away?

    Hello z:

    You're only allowed to EARN so much money when you're drawing SS. So, if somebody is purchasing a house based on their INCOME, it's probably going to effect SS, because they've got to be earning a whole lot of money to qualify for a loan these days.
