I took the bowl off the carb. On my 1979 toro7 hp snow blower and I do not know where to put back this silver pin with a clip attached to it. I was doing this because the enging kept stalling out after I started it up unless I kept praying carb cleaner.

Can you describe the "pin" and is it a Glass bowl? I can help you better before I give wrong information. A lot of 79 motors had glass gas sediment bowls instead of gas filters. Need more Info.

It is a metal bowl that holds the float. The Pin is pointed and looks like a little bullet. I believe it controls the fuel coming in. The reason I took the bowl apart is because it seemed like it was not getting the fuel after it started and would stall out unless I kept spraying carb cleaner in the carb. Thank you

The "pin" the "bullet" shape does sound like an old fashion metering mechanism device that loosely attachés to the back of the float and hangs there and as the float rises up in the bowl it keeps fuel from coming. The float usually pivots on a cross hanging back pin ( sea saw effect) and the back of that sea saw the "pin that has the point"" will loosely hang there and sink into at "seat" and the fuel supply to the carb shut the gas dawn enough so the bowl doesn't flood the carb. This 'Float" is adjusted by the bending the tang on the back of the bowl and raises and lower the "pin" seat height to adjust when more gas is let in or let out in the float "bowl" Basically a different needle and seat setup. Many times that pin will have a little rubber molded just at the point of the pin and flush with the pin and that helps create the seal to control gas flow into the bowl and in turn the carb If there is no rubber on the pin the "seat" where it goes might have the rubber in there or a very good machine fit for that "pin" to "seat." Usually there is also a little very small clip that snaps over the pin and attachés then to the back of the float pivot and its loosely hanging there and back weights the gas "float" and meters the gas that way.

On the your "pin" opposite the point, is there a indention around that that a little wire snap clip cloud snap around it to hang the pin? Wish you had a picture to show. Is the bowl sitting on the engine basically level? This would help explain more on float function.

The "pin" should hang/ dangle off the opposite side of the float and the float should be sitting in the bowl flat wise and pivot on another pin or rocker point.

Sorry for repeating myself here but I am trying to get a picture to you in words and compare that. Can you describe the shape of the clip and size? I will be looking for this post again. And if you got is solved let me know Thank You!
