PC Freeze before I can use it
Hi. I have a custom made PC, not by my obviously. It's been fine for about 3 to 4 years now and just recently it started freezing on start-up. It loads fine but once I log into my own account, my PC freezes before I can even click an icon on the desktop.

Have you scanned your computer for spyware and viruses? Defragged your hard drive and cleaned up the registry? If you do these things your computer should work much faster.

I would if I could. The problem is the computer freezes before I can do anything at all. Literally. I click with the mouse and my computer freezes.
P.S. I'm obviously not typing this from my broken computer. I'm on a laptop.

Do you have another user account? Try logging into it. If you can get into safemode, log into the administrator's account. Don't know what op. sys. You're using.

I tried logging into other accounts but all came up frozen. I'm using Windows XP.

Do you have an anti-virus program installed? My computer's AV program
Took over my computer completely for the first 10-15 minutes. After that,
It freed up so I could use it.
I solved my problem by changing the settings from the software's (AV program)
Controls from "Automatically Update," to "Let Me Manually Update." That way
I don't have to wait for them to get finished, but I update when I'm ready
To go offline.
That might be what keeps you from using it immediately.
