Filing for custody in nh when living in VT
A friend of mine recently found out he has a 6 yr old son, the mother moved when they broke up never telling him she was pregnant, and never notifying him when the little boy was born that he had a child! All of a sudden he got a summons to court for child suppot... the child support has been resolved with a paternity test done. Now he would like to set up visitations with his son... the mother lets him see the boy when its convenient for her but only lets him visit at her house, he would like to be able to take the boy for weekend visits and she won't let him, he has seen him once about every 6 weeks when she says its OK! Hes been trying to find out how to file for visitation/ joint custody but the courts here say he has to file in NH, the courts there say that she has to file because she's the resident of NH... and she says she doesn't have time to file the paperwork! Please help! Hes already missed out on 7 years of the boys life(its been a year since he received the summons for child support) and would like the time to get to know his son, take him fishing, swimming, etc!
