Does he really care about me?
I've known this guy for two years already..(1 year as friends and 1 year dating)
We just now starting back talking after a 3 month not communicating over a a misunderstanding and he seems interested BUT...
He was in a relationship before me for a year in a half with another woman and she treated him wrong so he doesn't love me but he told me that he cares about me. So how do you know if he really "cares" about you or if he's just talking to you just to have sex?Should I just let my guard down and be able trust him?

Hmmm... He had a bad relationship with another person... and he says this is the reason why he can't love you?

Other than that question, this sounds like a bad deal. Hes not committing to you, so don't sleep with him unless you want something uncommited also.

If you want a real realationship I was say forget this and start again...

I think it takes time to fall in love with someone. He is hurt from his previous relationship and has his guard up a bit. Just because he has known you for two years doesn't mean he should be in love with you. Dating is dating, and it is about evolving a relationship to the next step, if the potential is there.
