    How young is too young
I was wondering how do you know the "age limit" to date a person?
I thought this because I'm 20 and it's a little confusing too me.

Stick with 18 and over to avoid most problems. If you want to date someone younger you need to learn the age of consent laws in the region where you live. A parent may try to have you put in jail if they don't like you.

Yeah, I would stick to anything 18 and over, not only because of laws but also because of maturity levels. Someone younger (still in high school) might not be at the same maturity level that you are.

Humm date, it is the having sex that will get you in jail if you "date" to young, which is of course what a lot of young people ( or old people) do after a few dates.

You will be safe at 18 beyond that it is up to the state law where you are at.

Well its not like I'm going to make out with the first girl a see, lol!

Around here it's clear that with -18 you're the one responsible.
But it's well accepted, sometimes too much, I've seen girls 16yo dating guys 30, but to me it's their problem not mine!

Personally I found it difficult to find mature people even in my age, not to be cocky, if somebody likes to "mess around", go ahead, I don't think I would feel comfortable with myself having casual relationships with girls well below my age just for fun, or any women for that matter.

I have a shyness problem , so it's probably the problem on finding persons that have a similarities with me. But I finally have come to admit I want to have a personal life. But it still hard to understand much about relationships.

But the point on the topic is not my personal problems, I'd like to hear your personal opinions, I mean in any age, I know there's a huge differnece between cultures and people and I'd be glad to know how you see this matter.

If you are 20 or over, you don't touch anyone that isn't 18 or older, that is my opinion. If you are 30, and date someone who is under 18, then you should be in jail... just my opinion. When I have children, if a 30 year old man dates my 16 year old daughter, there would be problems...

At 20 and you want mature, date a lady who is 30, you would be surprised at the ones that would like a younger man.

    Lol, I didn't said this!
And technically I'm the one beign messed with in this case?

I didn't mean mature, I have some fairly childish ideas, what I meant is that I just don't fit with the "let's get wasted and have sex with anyone", when most people at my age, that I know at least, feel very comfortable with the idea.

As much as it's hard to admit, I frankly feel infatuated by a girl 4 years older then me, but probably it's hard because I'm younger and I look even younger (at least it's what most people told me :/), and wanting it or not there are many dogmas around age.
I don't really know if she feel something , but well, I'm not even trying because of it.

it's not a bad thing to go for a girl a few years older, especially if you don't fit into the "let's get wasted and have sex with anyone" scene. What have you got to lose? Ask her out =)

Four years once you're out of your teens tends to lose the stigma. It's not unusual to see couples with 10 years age difference as you get older. A 40 year old with a 50 year old isn't creepy like a 10 year old with a 20 year old would be.

At four years older she can probably appreciate a man who isn't into the "lets get trashed" scene. It's just unusual to find a guy like that who's 20, that makes you a good catch ;) Some women find it quite flattering to have a younger man interested in them.

Men mature so slowly they darn near HAVE to be 10 years older than a woman (kidding!).
