Scared of gaining too much weight
My husband I want to start trying to concive soon, but I am afraid I am going to gain a lot of weight like I did when I was pregnant with my son. I had put on over 50 pounds and to top it off he only weight 6 pounds 9 ounces at birth. It took me about 10 months to lose the weight, and I am not looking forward to going through that all over again. I feel like I just got back into my size and I am afraid that the second time around I won't be able to lose it. The doctor told me for my weight and height I should only gain between 25 to 30 pounds. I went way over that. Any suggestions or any help how to control my weight. I weight 135 AND I AM 5 4" Can you imagine how huge I was at 200lbs...

Gaining weight is a fairly common concern for many women, and for their partners as well. It can put women off getting pregnant even. It is important to keep in mind that you are not really eating for two. Making healthy choices, watching your portions, and getting some regular exercise can go a long way in
Helping you stay within a reasonable range. Many doctors are now comfortable with women gaining a bit less than what was once recommended.
It can help to have plenty of good for you snacks so when you do get the desire for something to eat, reach for one of those... or better yet, use that as a signal to get up and get moving. You can join a pregnancy exercise class which will put you in with other like minded women, plus hold you somewhat accountable for being more active.

If it makes you feel better, my wife didn't have any net gain after our second. Once our second was born she was back to her prepregnancy weight in less than a month, with no special effort.

I have read in "What to expect when you are expecting" book that it is possible for a mom to put on 40 pounds and still her baby weighs 5 pounds, and another mom to put on only 20 pounds and her baby weighs 8 pounds.

It depends on what you eat and not how much you eat. The more nutritious the meals/snacks are, the better the baby's development will be and the less weight you will put on.

But... it is very easy to talk these out but very difficult to follow for some women who are having difficult pregnancies. For e.g. I had hypermersis gravidarum (extreme nausea and vomiting) and was not able to eat or drink anything. So my doctor told me not to worry about healthy/unhealthy and eat whatever I could keep inside.
