    Sick 8 month old
Myself and my step-son have had the flu for a good few day's now and now my little boy has it too. He has almost thrown up everything that he has had since Thursday morning, bottles and solids. He woke up at 1:30am this morning and it is now nearly 4:30am, he still hasn't slept, he's very grizzly and hasn't long brought up the water that I had given him.

Should I take him to his gp first thing? And is there anything I can do for him for now?

He has been having calpol and can't have anymore now for a while, I'm also feeling pretty ill we are both completely shattered, can anyone advise?

Try to keep him hydrated with a little sugar water or if you have any pedialyte but I would avoid solids and milk as they are too hard to digest.
Keep him cool... don't over wrap him as he is already probably feverish.
I would call the doc in the morning.
Good luck I know how hard it is when your little ones are sick!

I assume he isn't breastfed, because if so, you could nurse him as much as you want. But I believe you said he's your stepson...

Has he had a fever? If so, damp cloths at room temperature on his skin can help bring it down a bit. It's unpleasant for him, but if you must get a fever down... it's effective.

I would definitely call his doctor first thing or immediately if at any time he seems to take a turn for the worst.

Little ones this age get dehydrated very quickly. If he can't keep fluid down I would contact his doctor

Contact the doctor immediately. As has been said, little ones dehydrate rapidly and this can cause a number of serious issues.

Try small, frequent (as in every 10 minutes or so) sips of cooled water or dioralyte if you have any and see if he keeps it down. Sometimes too much at once will cause him to vomit it back up and he may do fine with smaller amounts. Don't worry about food for now. Is he keeping the calpol down? If he starts to do better, slowly introduce a little formula, but wait a bit on the food. If you are breastfeeding, continue with that in shorter, more frequent feeds. If no improvement definitely take him in to your gp to be seen. Hope you are all feeling better soon!
