I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about... that little voice that can totally ruin a happy day or drive me to do something (like calling my ex) that I know I shouldn't. My voice in particular loves to imagine what my ex is doing etc.. I can literally be sitting happy (well as happy as I can be right now) and two minutes later my little devil convinces me my ex needs to hear from me... and that devil is hard to fight.

Anyone else have this or am I just a little psycho? Any solutions for getting that devil under control? Thanks

Ahh, the devil. The trick is to sell your soul, for rock n' roll, or at least for sweet blues guitar skills.

Earnestly, just do you. Whenever the demon pops up in my head, I head to the gym to erg or bike for an hour. Does it help? Absolutely, plus you feel great after the workout. Work out all the demons. Then the demons start appearing less, you get into healthy habits, and it's a win/win solution!

Replace that devil with something constructive. Seize it by the dark horns or tipped tail and make it your b****. Eventually realize that thinking about the ex is only self-destructive behavior. You are only hurting yourself.

Control your thoughts, and you control your emotions. Gradual process. Until then, work it (sweat it) out.

Well if your still not thinking about her then it's a start! Everyone has their own little demon... It's nasty and can ruin a good moment no dought. Just learn to control him because in the end it does not matter what the hell our ex's are doing because we will NEVER know the real truth of it. They may have another Bf/Gf or they may be the most miserable pile of crap missing you on this side of the earth. Our brains seem to always think it's the first but a lot of the time it's just somewhere between.

So be positive and let the emotions go. Recontruct your life from the ground up if you have to. Build it back up stronger and better. Then have the last laugh when the next time she sees you your doing better than she is. ( not only will it irk her but it WILL make you feel great ) But after that just let the past be the past and consider you two square.

Nahhh. We ALL have those little voices... But, along with the one telling you to take off your pants in the middle of a 7/Eleven, you ALSO have one telling you that it might not be a good idea.

Listen to BOTH, then make an adult decision. You DON'T, of course, have to obey your little voice. Those that do are called sociopaths.

You have to drown out the voices with activity. When you're sitting at home doing nothing, all you have is your thoughts and memories, and if you're not good at "remembering" in a healthy way, this isn't a good situation to be in.

So, busy busy busy. TV watching doesn't always do it. Getting out there and doing stuff with and for other people, as late as necessary, that's the ticket.
