    Mastic and Mold
    Hello

Does anyone happen to know if mastic adhesive, used for vinyl floor tiles, is a biological substance which serves as food for mold that can grow underneath the tiles? I'm wondering whether I need to remove the mastic along with the tiles, in order to discourage mold growth as much as possible on my basement floor. I have had mold growing up through the tile seams each spring for the last ten years - with the onset of the heating season this year, I now have a mildew odor in the living area each time I turn on the forced air heat (the ducts have been inspected and are felt to be clean). Any and all thoughts are welcome

There seems to be a mositure problem with the cement under the tiles which is causing mold growth.
I don't believe mastic help mold to grow.

Need to seal the cement under the tiles and stop mositure from coming through.
