Hello everyone, got a problem and hope someone could help me. I am new to these 240v electric baseboard heaters, but here's what I know so far. I bought a honeywell ct410 series double pole stat, and a marley 240v electric heater. I ran my 12-2 wire into the stat first with white and black hot wires going to each of the 2 red wires on the stat. then the white and black going to the heater are connected to the blacks on the stat. in the heater, I have tried hooking them up both ways, since the manual said it doesn't matter which is which in the heater. However, I cannot get the heater to work. With the stat to off position, both red terminals read 120v, and with the switch on all 4 terminals have 120v each, and also there is voltage reading in the heater on every wire as well. I have exchanged both the heater and stat, with the same results. Is there something I am doing wrong? I really am out of options so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What is the model number of the heater?

Tell me please, what is the size of the Circuit breaker protecting this circuit? Are you using a two pole circuit breaker?

To get 240 VAC you need to use a STDP (Single Throw - Double Pole) breaker.

It must match the conductors for amperage. That said, if you are using 12 AWG conductors you are limited to a 20 AMP.
