Its very important that I get someone's opinion on an issue I have. I don't know if my boss is flirting with me or if he is just being nice. Am I reading something into this other than what it is.
We are both managers of our company, he is my superior. We both worked at another branch together before, our current assignment.
We have know each other for about 18 months. I started noticing things about a year ago. It started by him telling me one day that I looked 15 years younger than what I am. Then there were soft touches of the hand, as if they were an accident when handing off a pencil or attempting to turn a door knob. This lead to him following me into my office on an occasion just to talk, alone. He would talk mostly about business but throw in questions about my husband. Yes we are both married. He would ask things like how old he is, where he works, what does he do, is he planning to retire someday or work forever, etc. He would talk about his wife also. This is his second marriage and she she is 3 years older than him. He has confessed things about her drinking, being hard to please, their money management etc. She also is in remission from cancer, since 2005. He also tells me what a good cook she is and how busy she keeps around the house. I am 3 1/2 years younger than him.
Then I noticed him looking at me across a room or focusing on me during meetings. There was an occasional wink with a grin and long periods of eye contact. He would find me in a crowd during company visits and not seem to be afraid to be seen with me.
He got transferred to our new branch early this year and insisted that I come too.
Once at our new branch there was the occasional" Have I told you how much I love you lately" when a report was handed to him on time, or a "God I missed you" when I came back from vacation. He wants to have me sit with him while he does reports he can do alone sometimes, and the soft touches of the hand, has turned into an occasional touch on the waist as if to direct me into the right direction. He will stand real close to me and brush his arm on mine or touch my hand and pull it down a map to have me point at the right spot. He has started confiding in me things within the company and stuff he should not be telling about other associates. He likes to joke with me a lot and other associates have began to notice this and have began to talk. He recently told me he is glad we have such a great relationship but followed it buy telling me that its because I have over 60 % of the company. He recently was up for another transfer with a raise and he turned it down, he said he couldn't leave me as if a joke and then turned it into He likes this position better. He told me that he thinks others are jealous of our relationship and then turns it into, but we have to be close because of the company. He emails me and puts little comments in as if to lead me on, he lets it get to a certain point before he don't respond anymore.
He has made a comment about us being alone in a room before by saying, "And then there was two" Am I reading something else into this or his he interested?

It sounds to me like he is interested and tries to play it off like he's joking. I would definitely not spend time with him outside of work if it ever comes up.
