    Sewage pump windings gone?
We have a tank in our garden, where all our waist goes from the house. When it reaches a specific level a pump starts and pumps the waist up hill to the mains sewage system.
One of our pumps isn't working at all. I've had it out and checked it over. The pump is turning freely. The only thing I could find was a reading of about 100Kohms between all the phase wires and earth (the casing of the pump). Is this enough leakage to earth to stop the pump from working all together? It isn't activating the circuit breaker, just wondered if it means there's a breakdown in the windings?

    Thanks

If the pump hasn't quit working, it will before long. Get the replacement pronto. At least you shouldn't have to deal with a flooded transfer tank. What you did is a leakage test. We do them on AC system compressors to check the health of the compressor. When they show a breakdown from the windings to the ground they are on their way out.

Replaced sewage pump [ 2 Answers ]

Please tell me its going to be ok… I found my pump for the septic was bad . It would keep popping the circuit breaker. The tank it was in looks 4 feet wide and 7 feet deep.
