Hi me and my boyfriend have been trying to get pregnant for the past couple of months and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what we should do to conceive?

I don't mean to be old fashioned, but is there some reason you are not getting married before embarking on this project? Don't you want a committed stable relationship in which to raise your child for the next 20 years?

As for pregnancy, you need to figure out the day on which you ovulate and then have sex in the day or two before that. You should not have sex every day, but make a point of not having it for a few days beforehand.

It's easy find out your ovulation day if your menstrual cycles are very regular. From the day you ovulate until your period begins is between 13 and 14 days. It does not vary much. The part that varies is the time between the first day of your period and the day you ovulate. So if your cycle is always 28 days, then you will probably ovulate 14 days after the beginning of your period. If your cycle is 21 days, it will be 7 days. Just subtract 14 from the total and you'll be within a day or so.

In addition, you can tell when you ovulate (shed an egg) by taking your temperature, because your temperature will go up on the day you ovulate. The trouble with that is the information comes too late to do much. You would have to catch your boyfriend immediately and if you are late by even a few hours you can miss your window of opportunity. (The egg dies within 12 hours of ovulation, so the sperm basically need to be ready and waiting. And they can wait happily for several days.)

So, another sign is the quality of the mucus in your vagina. About two days before you ovulate it will become quite clear and stringy. If you examine it regularly, you'll see the difference. As soon as it is like that, it's a good time to have sex. That day or the next.

On the day you ovulate, your temperature should go up and also you may feel a mild pain to the right or left of your bladder. When you ovulate, either your left ovary or the right one releases an egg and cause some pain, called middlesmirchtz. Not everyone feels this, but it's common and if you know what to pay attention to and write down when you feel it, you'll know when you ovulate each cycle and can narrow down your target date.

    So, why no marriage?

    Great!

So unasked for advice: Get married, THEN start the baby making project. :)
Among other reasons, you'll enjoy some time with just the two of you. Babies are forever.

Also, you can be certain your boyfriend is really serious. A lot of guys love the idea of generating babies, but don't really have any long term interest in actual children, let alone teenagers. If he marries first, you'll have some indication that he's serious.

    Hope things go well!
