Weird growth/odor in toilet tank
We have a very unusual growth in the bottom of all three of our toilet tanks. They are white/greyish and look a little like a tumor. We have also noticed an increasing odor and are not sure if the growth is causing the odor (although that seems to be a likely cause).
Does anyone know what this is and what we need to do about it?
Thanks!

This is in your toilet tank, or your toilet bowl. Have you tried cleaning it out ?

Sounds like you have bacteria growth in your tanks. Shut the water off to the toilets and flush to drain the tanks. Pour about a pint of bleach in each tank and let set for 1/2 hour. Now scrub the tank down with the bleach, the tank walls and lid as well as the bottom of the tank. Turn the water back oin and flush the mess away. Smell better now? Good luck, Tom

Thanks so much for your replies.
Yes, it is definitely in the tank and not the bowl. Haven't tried cleaning yet - to be honest, we have been a bit scared to touch it without knowing what it is. I will definitely try the beach solution.
If anyone else has any ideas, would love to hear them also.
Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem, I'd love to hear any suggestions. I tried scraping as much of it off as I could a couple of months ago because it was growing around the suction cup thingy that lets the water into the bowl when you flush. Our handle was sticking and I thought the weird growth must be the reason. I put tons of bleach in and let it sit. I didn't clean it EXTREMELY well, because I too was a little afraid of what the heck it was... needless to say, the growth is back. I wish I knew what it was, YUCK! I'd be very glad to be rid of this problem forever!

Weird odor

I have a weird odor of what seemingly smells like rotting food or something dead centered in my kitchen. I've pretty much cleaned everything in the kitchen to within an inch of it's life and still the smell remains. We've checked the fridge/freezer and there is a box of baking soda in there, so...
