Rare Cat Behaviour
My cat behaved very strangely on Sat - not towards me but just running and growling. Took him to vet where he behaved very well - nothing medically wrong. Brough him home and he just continued to growl, spit and run around. Eventually had to place him overnight in his cat box and next morning it was like it never happened and has not re occurred. I have cat nip growing in the garden and he is sometimes aggressive towards that. Would it have been something he ate?

Hi, quickbrownfox!
Greetings and WELCOME to the site! I just moved your question that you had posted in Introductions to this topic area so that it would get the most exposure to those who are best able to answer it. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions there.
It can be a little confusing when first learning how to use this site! Your question will get noticed much more in this topic area.
We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little about yourself though, if you would be willing to do that.
Thanks!

Sounds as if the cat just had a wild hair. A neighborhood intruder may have also set him off. Catnip does make certain cats behave unlike their usual selves. Does his access to the catnip vary?

No it grows in the garden as a plant and he sleeps in it and eats it.

Same thing happened with OOna. She was fine with us one day and then became very afraid of us. She is growling and spitting at us but wants to be with us. We don't know what sets her off and we did take her back in to see her vet, we had the same results. Do you think it's fear based or anger based? I think ours is scaring herself because we will be still and she will continue to growl and spit as she runs past.

Fred was a once off and I felt it was not against me personally. Does Oona go outside? It could be another cat is upsetting her. What age is she? Does she have access to cat mint?

OOna is a year and half. She is completely indoors. I've carried her outside on the screened in porch and she completely freaks. We found her under our shed at about 7-8 weeks covered in fleas. At the time our dog Bella was 13 with special needs and a Weimaraner so you can imagine her hunt drive. We kept them separated for the next year. After we lost Bella (6.08), OOna gained access to the entire house. She's been better but her flipping out is very disconcerting. We're not sure what sets her off. She is coming out and greeting us when we come home. We get a stroke in or two and she comes and sleeps with us too but the bed seems to be an issue. Sometimes she sees us jumps off the bed and gets under then starts the cougar noises and growling. No spitting but she sounds mad when she sees the sheets moving. She doesn't seem to growling or hissing at us right now but the under the bed issue is going on day 3. We have never pulled her out from under the bed either.
We got a feliway diffuser and that seems to help her with us, she seems a bit calmer. Now I've also added some Rescue Remedy. Both are mainly for her anxiety but I'd like to get to root of the problem. Otherwise she is fine. Pees, poops in the litterbox. She's eating and drinking like normal for a cat barely under 7 lbs. She very small. Still comes out and rolls on the rugs in front of us and lounges very comfortable on the bed.
Sorry for the long description. We really want to do right by her even if it means finding her another home. She can be so sweet but these flips in personality are really pretty scary for all of us. When we first found her she was all about being held and stroked. I could flip her over with her belly up and she was fine so this is a big change. 2 vets have examined her and said she is very healthy, in fact I think fiesty was also used! Thanks for listening.

Have any one used Rare extracts and actually seen really good results? I've been using now for about 2 weeks and some days I think I see results than other days I can't tell. I'm not sure if it is because of my skin tone which is light yellowish brown, and at times look different any way or what....
