Hello,
I have a gas furnace that has an electronic ignition? The blower and the fire come on but something keeps clicking and I don't get heat. This has been happening since I turned the gas back on. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help
Would be appreciated, I am a single mom and money is just super tight right now.

If the blower and fire come on you should have heat. Can you take the door off the furnace and see what is clicking?

I take the door off, and what ever is clicking is in the top part by the wires etc but I don't know what it is. The only way I can shut it off is to take the door off otherwise it keeps going even if I turn it off at the thermostat

Sorry I do not find that model number listed so it would be a guessing game as far as picking out the problem with the furnace.

Did you have the gas turned off or the gas company?

The gas line might need to be bled and that job you better leave to the professionals.

I got the model number off the furnace inside the bottom compartment, it said model is there some other number I should look for? It's a 10 year old Payne

If it said furnace model that is it. I have most info for furnaces but not that number one. Look again and post if you fid a different one. Usually the model number will be with other info on a tag.

The 'clicking' you hear is most likely the spark ignition.

Paynes can be a pain. Sorry money is tight, but I believe you need to call for onsite help. I would rather see you be in debt, than be hurt by trying to work on something that you are not familiar with. Please be safe and call for help. Explain your current situation to the company you call for help, and see if they won't let you make payments. If they are decent folks. They will work with you and help you get back in heat without breaking the bank.

I am almost certain that your problem is with your flame sensor. That would explain why you say the flame ignites and the fan starts but you have no heat. It would also explain why your igniter keeps sparking.

Because no gas is there to lite off more than likely.

Let me mention this again just in case you forgot.

The gas line might need to be bled and that job you better leave to the professionals.

This may solve your problem. If not then it is possible the pilot orifice is plugged not allowing the gas to pass for ignition.

OK, so worse case about how much does a flame sensor or gas line bleeding run? I know it costs about a hundred just to come out.

The cost of work changes from area to area in this country. I have no idea what they charge in your area but you might call a few different places to see.

If you have natural gas/city gas the gas company might come out for free to bleed the system gas line. They do it around here but they will not fix the furnace just bleed the gas line. I guess they have had some close calls or body counts with home owners bleeding there own gas lines.

How long exactly does the flame stay on? And is it just pilot flame. Or full main burner flame?

Ok this time when I put the front panel on the blower started running immediately. I turned up the thermostat and then the pilot light came on and then the full burner. Those ran for 3 to 5 minutes and warm air was coming out. Then the clicking starts going off constantly. The burner is still going, warm air is coming out still but every time there is a click the blower/warm air hesitates. Will this burn up my furnace? I take off the panel to stop it every time it starts clicking.

Now the unit is running but clicking. If you could just track down the clicking item and give us a idea of what it is could be we could figure it out and all you might have to do is buy and replace the part. But it is just a guessing game at this time. Sounds like a relay of sorts. That would cause the burner to hesitate.
