    Can Leaks Rust themselves Shut?
Just recently removed and reinstalled a hot water radiator heater in our living room after having our new hardwood floors installed... One side of the connection was leaking somewhat. Tried tightening several times which slowed the leak a great deal but not entirely... till drips once a min or so... I then used a fair amount of "Mighty Putty" As Seen on TV Ha Ha. The leak continued... then used a strechy rubber like tape my son brought by which helped... The question I have will this leak eventually stop by itself... RUST itself Shut as I have heard a friend say? I suppose I could try and place a "thin pan under it in hopes that by the time it fills up the water would evaporate before it could collect and spill over... I dont want to take the radiator off again if I can help it! It weighs a Ton! Any suggestions...And if it can "Rust Shut" how long does that process usually take?

What kind of a connection is it? Union/threaded? If union did you clean the connection faces before reassembly? More info needed but I would never leave a leak no matter how small. They can always get bigger when you least expect it.
