Eviction without being on a lease
I have been living in a house with several other roommates who have come and gone and paying my portion of the rent for a room regularly for about a year. There is no lease agreement with the current tenants, we are all new to the house and I am the longest renter there.
I was unable to pay my portion of the rent this month and the landlord barged in and told me I had to move out or he would remove all my things from the property. Does he have a legal right to do that? Doesn't he have to serve me a 3 day notice or quit?
    What are my rights excactly?

Yes, he has to follow the rules for eviction in your area. If he removes your belongings without a court order, he is opening himself up for a suit. Go to your local housing court and ask for the rules. Then tell your landlord what the rules are.

Since you don't have a lease, he can terminate your tenancy at any time with proper notice.

You need to check the landlord tenant laws where you live.

He cannot legally remove you and your things without first taking you to court.

    Notice I said legally.

    How big is your landlord?

Ok, as noted legally he has to give you notice, and take you to court.

But then there are 1000's of illegal evictions every month, so if you come home one day and all of your stuff is scattered across the yard and a lot is gone then all you can do is hire an attorney and sue him. But you are then homeless without any property.
