Hunter 44260 Wiring
Ok. So I changed my thermostat over the summer to a Hunter 44260 Programmable Thermostat. Had no problems over the summer using the AC. Now it's getting a little chilly and the heater will not turn on. When I switch the heater on, the AC condenser turns on but nothing is coming out of the vents and it nothing is happening with the furnace.
The wires are connected as follows:
Blue = G
Red = RC
White = W/O
Yellow = Y1
and there's a jumper wire connecting RC and RH
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

I'm not sure what the difference between gas or heat pump is. If it helps, I live in the Los Angeles area in a house built in the late 1980s. The thermostat that I installed is a Hunter 44260 Programmable Thermostat.
I hope that helps with your questions.

If you do not know what kind of system you have I cannot do much on this end for you.
A standard system without heat pump is usually wired
RH+RC jumpered
R to RH RC
W to White
Y to Yellow
G to Green
The confusing item is the blue wire. Sorry but under the circumstances with you not knowing what you have this is the best I can do.

I don't remember the original wiring.
However, I've figured out I have a heat pump (I think). I switched the setting on the tstat to HP and now the heater works, BUT the AC unit still comes on, too. The air is hot coming out of the vents in the house, but I'm not sure if the outside unit should be coming on, as well. I'm pretty certain that it did not come on with the old tstat. The current wiring is what I originally posted.
Blue = G
Red = RC
White = W/O
Yellow = Y1
and there's a jumper wire connecting RC and RH
Any advice on the outside unit still blowing?
Thanks!

If you have a heat pump it is actually the same unit as the A/C so it will run outside if it is a heat pump also. A heat pump in simple terms is nothing more than a A/C unit with a reversing valve.

Thanks so much for your help. And please forgive my ignorance, but if the AC unit did not turn on before, with the old thermostat, does that mean I do not have a heat pump?
Currently, I have a gas furnace in the garage and the AC unit in the backyard. I tested the heater again this morning and it seems to keep running even after it reaches the set temperature. Only way to turn it off is to switch the heater off.
The AC unit is still blowing when the heater turns on but stops when I put the temperature lower.
Any advice, again, would help.
Thanks!

Your statement
However, I've figured out I have a heat pump (I think).
Since I am here and you are there I have no idea what you have.
If you do not know exactly what you have whatever possessed you to start working on it to start with?
You cannot change thermostats unless you know exactly what you have.
Now with that being said you need to start by looking in the furnace and write down which color is on which letter terminal. We will need this base line to figure out the blue wire since it is not common to use a blue wire on a 4 wire system. This will be the base line so be exact. Post back the results.
