    Water Leaking from Air Conditioner
I live in a manufactured home and have one of those long wall units like you see at motels.

At first, I had water spitting out of my ac, but fixed that by cleaning the air filters and cleaning the coils.

However, now I have water gathering at the bottom of the pan and leaking onto the floor.

We had a cold snap, so the water that was gathering in the right side of the pan has stopped. However, NOW there is water gathering in the bottom left side of the ac and dripping onto the floor.

It is still producing too much water and leaking into the bottom left corner. My friend and I took the wall unit out, vacuumed it with a wet/dry vac. We cleaned a little filter that we saw inside. However, we cannot see hardly any water anywhere. There are holes drilled in the section of the enclosure for (outside) so that it will not clog.

Everything was bone dry, and we put the ac back into the wall. Within an hour, water is once again, dripping from the bottom left side of the pan. There is no way to tilt the ac because of the way the thing is built for that enclosure.

Why is the ac producing too much water? The coils are clean and I have done all I know to do. I have a small rug a small pan there to catch the water so the carpet does not get wet.

    Extremely puzzled.. .

There should be a drain going outside. It is located somewhere in the pan. Find it and clean out any obstructions. When the air has a lot of moisture like when its raining or damp outside, it is normal for a lot of condinsation to form. This should solve your problem.

Yes check your drain first. You may also be low on refrigerant, causing the coil to freeze, therefore you will have water dripping in places it shouldn't.

Do you notice a lack of airflow when the water is dripping. Does the drip get worse when you shut the unit off?

If you are indeed low on refrigerant, this means you have a leak in the system. You are not allowed to recharge the system without first locating and fixing the leak. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Well the ac sits in an opening into the wall. It's a wall unit. So, there is still a drain pipe?

When the unit runs, it does not leak at all. It is when I shut it off, then it leaks.

May or may not have a drain. If it does, you will see it somewhere on the outside portion of the unit. If it doesn't have a drain, then I'm pretty sure you are low on refirgerant. May be cheaper to just buy a new window air conditioner than paying to have service ports installed, leak located and fixed, and system charged. Window air conditioners are pretty reasonably priced. It is a window unit isn't it? Or is it a split system wall unit(cooling coil hung on wall and condenser sitting out side on ground?) If window unit, replace.

    Many causes for this:

    1. unit isn't absolutely bubble level. Drain hose is usually on right hand side of unit, so if unit tilts to left it could be backing up.
    2. blockage in drain, usually cockroaches. Or twisted drain, or its kinked.
    3. low on refrigerant, can cause coil to freeze up on head unit
    4. damaged drainage gutter in head unit ( commonly ftom cockroaches eating the polystyrene ) !
    5. some fridgeys, pipe the drain into an outside downpipe. It has been known for water to back up in heavy rains and up through ac drain pipe and into the house

    Hope this helps
