NYC tax for OPT and F1
    Hello there!

I am aware that people on OPT and F1 status are not required to pay FICA taxes. I read that I am not required to pay NYC tax either. Although my company elimintated FICA deductions, NYC tax is still being deducted from my paychecks.

What proof can I give to my company to prove that I am not required to pay NYC tax also?

Thank you in advance for your help.

A call or email to the NY state tax authorities should get you a definitive answer that you can refer to when negotiating with your employer.

Failing that, you will get the taxes back when you file as a non-resident of NYC.
