Will it damage car to sit and idle with low transmission fluid
I have a 1969 Nova that is never driven but I start it regularly and let it run. The transmission leaks so it's usually low. Does it damage my trans when I let the car sit and idle?

Not a good idea to do this. Try adding fluid to the tranny when you are going to run the engine for awhile. This way you won't be harming the tranny any.

The transmission pump runs when the engine is idling, providing lubrication to the transmission and it's seals...
You probably run the engine to keep it's internal parts free and lubricated. Why not do the same for the trans?
If the leakage is so severe, why not fix it? And keep the whole car ready? Seals are pretty inexpensive, compared to the potential cost of an entire transmission.
At least you can put some fluid in the trans and run it through the shift pattern and put a catch pan under to catch the drips...
