    You should ask yourself if that is a true statement.
    Different layers have different properties that are based on their composition.
    The heavier the composition, the more they tended to "sink" to the centre of earth.
    For sure there are different layers, but are there sudden sharp changes into different layers?
    Or is it easier for us human beings to understand it that way?
