    Child endangerment
My friend left his 5 yr. old son alone when he was sleeping to help an old friend change a tire. (realizes it was dumb). The cops were called because a neighbor herd the kid crying. So he got home, but he wasn't arrested and the kid wasn't taken, but the reports going to the d.a. and the cop doesn't know what's going to happen from there. He's scared he's going to lose his son or go to jail or lose custody to his mom who rarely sees her son and doesn't even care for him. He doesn't want him to go to the mom's parents either if it comes down to it. What is going to happen to him and his son. Any possitive feedback will do. He is desperate for the truth.

The best he can do is be humble and tell the Judge he realizes how dumb and dangerous it was and agree to take parenting classes and hope for the best. I think (at least in my state) if they were trying to take his son they would have had CPS come when the police came and taken him on the spot. Doesn't mean they can't or won't but sounds to me like so far things aren't going in that direction.

Well yes he's happy they didn't take his kid, but is worried it can still happen. I know California is a strict state on everything. Just doesn't want the mother to get ahold of him, but do you think he'll have to take parenting classes or something? Whatever to keep his son he'll do it. So if that's what you think or any other information from anyone thank you.

I am saying that is what I think the minimum would be.
I wouldn't get my hopes up too much but the fact that CPS wasn't called immediately does seem favorable.
