How do I change my thermostat from a regular one to a programmable one?
I have Federal Pacific Electric baseboard heaters and FPE wall thermostats. I wanted to change them to a newer programmable thermostat but I have never worked with electric heaters.
The wiring is 12/2 w ground going to the back of the current thermostat.
Can I use just a new Honeywell RTH211b programmable thermostat to upgrade or do I have to buy a new FPE thermostat, if they make a programmable unit? If so how do I wire it to the new RTH211b?

Any line voltage programmable thermostat will work. Make sure you get a thermostat sufficient for your voltage and amperage.

There is no model number RTH211b. If you mean RTH221B then you got the wrong one. That is a low voltage t-stat.
You need a LINE voltage t-stat.
    Just follow the instructions.
