    Hair loss at 25
I'm 25 years old and female. One year ago, I started noticing gray hairs. Now, to add insult to injury, I am experiencing rapid hair loss. I've lost 60% of my hair in the past 8 months. My hair is thin and lifeless, and falls out easily. I've noticed my scalp was much more visible, hairline has receded a little around the face and behind my ears, and I can't wear any hairstyles except a ponytail. I cleaned out my shower drain and found more hair than I have on my head! The major issue is that I don't have health insurance, so seeing a doctor is out of the question.

    BACKGROUND INFO:

    1. I tan
    2. I used to dye my hair monthly (dark, semi permanent colors) but calmed down on that.
    3. I blowdry and straighten my hair almost daily. I use an assortment of thickeners, frizz serums, shine serums, flat iron protectants, etc.
    4. I shampoo and condition daily, sometimes twice a day.
    5. I am not taking any medications or birth controls... just an acne gel.

What could be the issue? Most importantly, how can I get my hair back?

Wow, I am sorry to hear about your hair loss but to be honest it sounds like you are causing more damage than helping. I am not sure of your race but if you are african american, washing your hair twice a day is truly a problem. Wash your hair once a week and if you are whit I would say wash it every other day or something like that. Blow drying daily and using heating equipment daily is not good either. Slow down and let nature take it course. Try changing your routine and see what happens as far as the loss is concerned.
