Garbage disposal directly to P trap?
Just got new counters and a under mount sink. NOW the bottom of the garbage disposal is about an 1/2 inch above the drain in the wall and I can NOT hook it to the other side... help

I do NOT want to cut drywall, cut pipe in wall and then put a new drain lower:mad:

Options? - 1. I was told I could add another P trap just for the garbage disposal and put a Y on the drain at the wall giving each sink its own drain/P trap.
    2. simply get rid of the garbage disposal and put a new sink drain and put it back together -be done

Wifey says she would like to keep the garbage disposal but I can't get water to flow uphill!! Advice anyone??

You were told right about adding a wye in the line and then running to the disposal with another trap. In fact this sometimes works better because when you run your disposal it does not have a straight line to pump water back up into the other side of the sink.

If you do not have a clean out for your sink line this would be a good time to add another wye and use the opening for a clean out. But if you already have a clean out then never mind that idea.

I had a garbage disposal installed in my kitchen by a plumber. Sometime when we put garbage in and turn it on it shoots out the other drain and comes up into the other sink basin. My guess is that too much garbage is being put inthere at one time and shoots it across. Also, the instructions say to...
