    Bad ultra sound tech
I'm not pregnant, but this is the only area I saw that talked about ultra-sounds so here goes.

I went in for a trans vag and uteral ultra sound and had a rude tech.
First she gave me a smock that was obviously to small, and before I could ask her for one that fit, she was already down the hall telling me over her shoulder what exam room I would be in. Of course because her face was pointed in the opposite direction from myself I had to ask her to repeat herself, and she did so while rolling her eyes. I finally had to poke my head out of my curtain to ask any passer by if they could find me something that would fit. While they were doing so, the rude tech poked her head around the corner and said " Whats taking you so long I am all set up and waiting for you" This of course was not said politley. I informed her that I would not walk down a crowded hall-way with my hanging out.
When the kind passerby did get me a fitting smock, I hastely put it on and went to my exam room, where the tech asked me twice how much I weigh. Again this was not asked politley.
I have had the same exam done and was never asked my weight ( or made to feel bad about myself ), I also asked my friends and fam who have had that exam if they were ever asked and they all said no.
I ended up calling back the clinic and complaining, the supervisor told me she may have needed to know because it could be important to the radiologist. I told him that I would be looking into that and if I found that that was just an excuse for her bad behaviour that he would be hearing from me.
Does anyone know if there is some truth to the whole radiology thing?:confused:

Depending on what they were looking for, weight can be part of the equation. It would have been easy to explain to you why it may have been helpful though.

Regardless, there certainly is no need to cause someone to feel badly or mistreated. Especially in those types of tests, which are pretty personal, even more tact and consideration should be used.

Might have been an off day for her, who knows... unfortunately it happens... even though ideally it wouldn't.

Ultrasound is very difficult to perform on overweight patients; you have to push harder and the images are not as good, so it is helpful to tell the Radiologist how much the patient weighs to help explain a poor exam.
