Baroque time
Choose three (3) works of art from three artists from the Baroque period through the Postmodern era. Your choices must comply with the following criteria:
-The 3 artworks chosen must be of the same style or time. For example: 3 Baroque works of art, 3 Impressionist works of art, 3 Abstract Expressionist works of art, etc.. Do not mix up times or styles.
-The 3 artworks you choose do not have to be from the text book, HOWEVER, the artists themselves must be discussed in the text. Begin your search by reviewing artists in the text. Then you can search other internet sources for their other works of art.
-the works of art must have a similar theme. For example: 3 landscapes, 3 works that focus on religious content, etc.
This project is broken down into two parts. In unit four, you will work on the first two bullet points, which are highlighted in bold below, as well as an introduction and conclusion. The "final draft", will be completed for Unit five, and will cover all four bullet points (listed in the U5IP assignment).
Your final paper will be a 1200-1500 word critical essay about the three works of art you have chosen. The goals of a critical essay are to evaluate and analyze the art works based on research, using the vocabulary and concepts you have learned. Your attitude should be detached (i.e. your personal opinions are not as important as academic concepts; The "critical" aspect of the essay refers to this detached attitude, not whether you react positively or negatively to the works). Your essay must include the following points:
A description of the works: Address the following terms in your descriptions of each art work explaining the meaning of each of these important elements of art: Materials, size, subject matter, content, focal point, color, line, composition, symbolism and style. Explain the theme that is similar in all 3 works chosen.
A summary of the artists' personal philosophies of art (if they can be found in published sources), and the prevailing trends and schools of thought in the art world at the time and in the place the artist was working. For instance, discuss what was taking place in the artist's city, country, and/or church that may have provoked a reaction from the artist or the greater society. Include any information that might help the reader understand the artist's point of view or why the artist made his or her choices in this work of art.
You will need to use the Library to learn about the artists. In the Library:
Click Find Articles and Books
Search for artist's name, time or art movement, and/or title of the work of art.
Click Find Web Resources
Click General Studies.
Click Art.
An explanation of how the works fit into the context of the time.
Compare the three works in terms of form, content, and subject matter. Using the terminology and concepts that you have learned in the course, explain the similarities and differences in the styles of the works and the context in which they were made. Compare and contrast their aesthetic qualities and symbolic significance, as well as the artists’ points of view. Your personal point of view that you have developed throughout the paper will be summarized here. As with the preceding three sections, you will write in your own words, supported by research.

Hi, kayseaann!
Thanks for taking the time to post your homework here that you need to do.
However, actually doing homework for others isn't something that we do here. Your homework was given to you for you to learn. If we did it for you, then that wouldn't be helping you to learn now, would it?
If you would like to put forth some effort in this assignment and show that you have done so by posting on this thread, that would be different. Then, I'm sure that there would be those of us who would be willing to come along and advise as well as discuss with you the progress you are making on your paper. I do mean this sincerely. Please give it a try.
When it was time for me to do my homework, I took the time to do it. In most of those times that I did it, I passed. Because I took the time to do my homework, through the passage of time, it helped me in other areas of my life, because I had been successful at doing my homework in trying to do the work according to the standard set forth by whoever was my teacher at the time.
Time passed for me and the things that I did through the passage of time were better because I did my homework.
Now, you see, I've just written you a rather long response that's taken me maybe five minutes to write, kayseaann, and it's just about as long as what you copied and pasted here. It's based upon what I know because of experience and the fact that I did my homework.
I'm highly interested in art from the periods that you mention. I would be very willing to help you with your assignment, if you would put forth some effort yourself in doing it. If you get cracking with your studying, you will be able to flow with writing out the information that you need to in order to complete your assignment. We don't know what textbook that you're using nor what things you've already learned so far, so we're somewhat at a disadvantage here because some of your paper must be based on the textbook that you're using.
If I were a mean person, I might re-title your thread "Please Do My Homework for Me". Since I'm not a mean person, I won't do that. I really would like to help you and see you be successful in completing the assignment that has been given to you.
It's an awesome assignment, and you will learn much by doing the research and study needed to complete it!
Please post the work that you have done on it right on this thread. There are those of us who know art here and also how to formulate and construct essays that are meaningful, full of constructive comments and frankly, just get the job done.
Time passed for me, kayseaann, and I passed... successfully!
Time will pass, will you?
Thanks!

Clough, you're a better man than I am. :) I think you wrote a lovely post, and I do agree with what you wrote.
Kayseann, if you want to share your ideas with us, I'm sure we could help you with some good, solid reviews of what you've come up with.
That said, I'm adding the not-so-nice part. I can see that you pasted a copy of your assignment here, but you didn't ask any questions. Were you hoping that some poor genius with excellent writing skills, a background in art history, a copy of your text book, a nature so innocent he wouldn't realize he would be doing your homework, and a little free time might just sit down and write a 1200-1500 word response? I'm really asking because I would love to know the real answer from your point of view.
To be completely honest, although I am also happy to help you, I wonder what your school or your teacher might think if they found out you posted your assignment online in this way. At least where I come from, that's called trying to cheat, and it's really not good for your grades.
Certainly you're smart enough to have divised this clever little plan/attempt/scheme. Now all you have to do is apply that kind of energy and brain power into your work.
I would also advise you not to repeat the "copy, paste and answer" thing on other sites. I wouldn't want you to risk getting caught. You would be surprised at the things I've heard that schools and teachers do to prevent (and catch) cheaters.
Again, just the same, I would also be happy to review and discuss any material you are working on, now or in the future. I hope you do come back to respond.
