86 Accord - No power to Fuel Pump
    Hello, Help!
When I got this car I was told it needed a new fuel pump. It would run intermittently.
So I got a new pump installed it, and realized I was getting any power at all back to it.. so, I checked the fuses all good, dropped the tank and traced the wiring all seems good. Cleaned the connections to the pump.. I was told it could possibly be the Fuel Pump Relay.. So I replaced that.. nope. Nothing.

    Im stumped.
Car runs great if I put a bit of gas into the carb.. but that's not going to get me around town :)

    Help?

Fuses are all good, Pump is new.. Im going to try to refuse to accept the possibility that it's the ECM.

Where is the carburated LX models Main Relay, I can't find it where its supposed to be..

LX Model doesn't have a main relay.

Ive been told it could be the coil/cap/rotor if coil is going out can distort crank signal to pump relay? Causing to start on pump

    What do you think?

Well at least the main relay is the fuel pump relay which is at the back of the fuse box

. The coil, cap, rotor has nothing to do with the performance of the main relay. There is no crank signal to the pump relay.

. Clean the main ECM ground on the thermostat housing.

. Perform the K-Test on your ECM--it may be bad.

When you jump Terminals 5 and 7 in the main relay connector, does the fuel pump run?

On iatn net someone said something about ignition coil not being OEM and it causing problems with electrical system to pump.. upon further investigation I've noticed that the ignition coil under the hood has yellow scribbles on it as if salvaged from a junk yard..

Though why would the car run intermittently when I first bought it now no power at all to the pump.

According to a post on iatn

    The blue
Wire on the ignition coil has to have dwell to send a signal
To the fuel pump relay to let it know to turn on the fuel
    Pump.

Hi Mozi, how did you fix the fuel pump problem? I'm having the very same problem with my 1990 Nissan A31 Cefiro (carbureted engine, electric fuel pump in fuel tank).
