    Windows installer "what is it"
    Hi,
    I keep getting the windows installer with an icon showing a PC and software disc popping up at least daily and particularly today where it has shown up at leat 6 or 7 times. I press cancel because I don't know what it is installing, or for that matter what it is?
    Can anyone advise?

    Windows Installer is a utility that some programs (not only MS programs) use to install in a Windows environment. Did you try installing anything recently?

    Hi ScottGem,
    As far as I know, nothing has been installed recently. All I have tried to do is remove Outlook Express and my son's desk top.

    Have you run malware scans?

    I use Spyware Doctor and run it at least 2 or 3 times a month.
