    Hook up puzzle for newbie
    I have an older TV (has RCA cable with S video), a new DVD/VCR, a receiver,and Direct TV. How should these components be hooked up? What cables etc. will be necessary?

    I need to see the connection points on the back of the devices. Please attach a photograph of each units connection ports.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I hope you receive these images. THe TV is a Sony KV-27V22. The DVD/VCR is a Panasonic DVD-VR375 and the receiver is a Panasonic-SA-HE70.

    tuna1,

    Sorry I was out of town yesterday. Most of the problems you are having are caused by the age difference in products. For example, DVDs were not in existence when the TV was made so there are no connections ports or instructions for them with the TV.

    Okay: the Receiver is the center of all connections. If the TV is already connected to the Receiver, using the S-Video port, leave that alone.

    You will bring the Direct TV, pic and sound, to the IN terminals for the receiver.

    The DVD should connect to the Receiver via the Red/White Audio leads and the S-video connection ports on the Receiver

    I know this is late in the game but connect the directv the same way svideo and w+r audio
